Monday evening in Sunset, a vigil was held for the man found dead on Chretien Point Road.
The vigil happened at the place where 59-year-old Donny Jacobs body was found last Tuesday. Family an friends gathered asking for justice for Jacobs. The group marched along Chretien Point Road with a banner reading "No Justice, No Peace" with a photo of Jacobs. Attendees carried candles and balloons.
Jacobs' body was found outside of a home along Chretien Point Road on June 9, 2020.
According to the sheriff's office, Jacobs was beaten when he went to a house down the street from his own, demanding money he believed was stolen from him. They released details on the investigation stating that Jacobs was allegedly involved in a fight.
On Thursday the family gathered at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office saying they didn't know Jacobs had been involved in a fight until a report aired Tuesday night on KATC.
