Two arrested for allegedly bringing rifle on Beau Chene High campus

Two people have been arrested for allegedly bringing a weapon on Beau Chene High's campus during an after hours soccer game.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office says that on February 4, 2020, officials with the Beau Chene High School reported that two males who were attending an after-hours soccer game on campus and were armed with an assault rifle.

Deputies say that an alert student observed the two on the campus parking lot displaying what was later learned to be an AK 5.56 semi-automatic rifle. The two were allegedly seen pointing the rifle at several people before leaving the campus.

A person attending the soccer event was walking to her vehicle when she heard several people having a verbal altercation. One of the male suspects allegedly threatened to shoot the rifle in the parking lot during the school event. When the suspect arrived at his vehicle, he allegedly grabbed the rifle and pointed it towards several students who were in the parking lot and then pointed it in the air.

A third person on campus also stated that the two suspects were in a white GMC truck and were talking to him but he could not understand what they were saying. The back-seat passenger in the truck allegedly pointed a black assault rifle in his direction as the vehicle drove away.

Deputies identified the two suspects at 17-year-old Julian Ledezma and 18-year-old Alonso Ledezma of Eunice.

The two Ledezmas spoke with detectives at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Julian allegedly stating that while at the soccer game at Beau Chene, the weapon fell from the truck when the passenger door was opened. Julian allegedly picked the gun up off the ground and placed it back in the truck. They then both then left school grounds.

Both Alonso Ledezma II and Julian Ledezma were taken to the parish jail and booked and later bonded out.

Alonso was booked with charges of Carrying a Firearm or Dangerous Weapon by a student or nonstudent on School Property, at School Sponsored Functions or in a Firearm Free Zone. His bone was set at $3,500. Julian was booked with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm or Dangerous Weapon by a student or nonstudent on School Property, at School Sponsored Functions or in a Firearm Free Zone. His bond was set at $8,500.

"Thanks to the quick response by the principal of Beau Chene High School, the alert student, the unnamed coach, the quick response by our Juvenile Detective Division, and Detective Chasity Carriere, another dangerous weapon was taken off the streets of St. Landry Parish. Additionally, our investigation continues to determine whether the aforementioned individuals arrested are part of any gang activity," Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated.
