The St. Landry Parish Government will soon hire a chief administrative officer.
According to Councilman Wayne Ardoin, that person will handle personnel matters as well as help with finances and handling constituents' issues.
Ardoin says the parish has already received applications from candidates.
That position is designed to take some of the burden off the parish president.
Parish President Bill Fontenot has been undergoing cancer treatments.
Chief operating officer Amanda Cain and administrative coordinator Richard Lucito are running day-to-day operations.
