OPELOUSAS, La. - St. Landry Parish District Attorney Earl Taylor announced on Friday in a press conference that he is stepping down and will not run again.
He plans to leave office February 1, 2020.
Taylor has served the parish for 40 years, 17 as Assistant DA and 23 as District Attorney. He was elected in 1997.
The first Assistant District Attorney Charles Cravins will become the DA until the next election. Cravins has worked in the District Attorney's office since Taylor was elected.
