ST LANDRY PARISH, La. - Several people were injured after a vehicle went inside of an animal clinic in Opelousas.

Tuesday morning, a vehicle backed into the Bellevue Animal Clinic located at 5302 Highway 182.

The owner said most of the employees were outside taking a group picture when it happened.

"Our receptionist, thank God, were out here having their picture taken when suddenly one of the cars out of control started to back up they said 35 miles per hour" Dr. Tanina Fuselier said.

Several people were trapped inside, according to an official. Three people were injured and transported to a hospital.

"A couple of our ladies were caught by the truck," Fuselier said only one employee was injured from behind the reception desk which was crushed by the truck. "I know God protected us, we could have had loss of life easily."

Fuselier was in the back of the hospital during the crash.

"It sounded like a bomb, the treatment room doors, the swinging doors, kind of came open, the whole building shook" Fuselier said.

No animals were injured during the crash, including the clinic cat Marco.

The owners said they will re-open on Thursday.
