Rockin on The River happened today in Krotz Springs.

The annual event, which benefits a different person every year, includes a wild game cook-off, a motorcycle/jeep ride, kids activities, food, dunking booths, raffles, auctions, and karaoke. There's music from DJs and Shotgun Lillie.

It's an outdoor event with an all-day event schedule.

This year's recipient is James Troy Whipp, an Opelousas native who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of thirteen. He's one of two siblings still living among five, all of whom carry the genetic form of muscular dystrophy. Troy has recently had some medical issues that have caused a significant financial burden to him and his family, and now requires round the clock care, organizers say. He and his wife have three children and have been married for almost 30 years.
