A portion of the Town of Leonville's water supply system is under a boil advisory.

The advisory is only applicable to the areas below:

Beginning at 1119 Jennings Road to 1331
Highway 742 between 837 and 1742
Little Teche Road between 207 and 3193
Daniel Meche Road, Albert Road, Sandra Lee Road, Bebo Road, Amy Road

Officials say the advisory is in effect after a 4" main water line was cut by a contractor. As a result, the water produced by the system is of questionable microbiological quality.

The advisory is in effect until further notice.

It's recommended that consumers in the areas above disinfect their water before consuming it by boiling water for one full minute in a clean container. The minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.

Town of Leonville Water System will rescind the advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from the water supply system have shown the water to be safe.
