UPDATE: Opelousas Police say two people were wounded in a shooting at a local business Tuesday evening.
Police were called to the Cash Saver store in the 1300 block of Heather Drive at about 6 p.m.
They found one person in the store with a gunshot wound to his leg. That person was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Investigators were told that a second person, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to their legs, had already been transported to a local hospital. That person is listed in serious condition.
The initial investigation indicates that two groups of young men were involved in a confrontation in the store, and one person fired several shots at another, striking a bystander who apparently was not involved in the incident at all, police say.
Officers are working to identify all parties involved in the incident. Store surveillance is being reviewed at this time. More information will be released when it is available, police say.
