Opelousas Police are investigating a shooting on S. Railroad Avenue that left a woman injured.
Police Chief Martin McLendon says the woman was shot multiple times while in the passenger seat of a car on Railroad Avenue at around 10:30 pm Monday night. The shooting happened near the area of Jefferson Street.
She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle was also in the car at the time of the shooting. That person was not injured.
The department says that rounds may have been fired from another moving vehicle.
Opelousas Police say an investigation is ongoing.
No information on the suspect is available.
