OPELOUSAS, La. - An Opelousas man has been indicted for a May homicide.
Kendol Payne, 28, was indicted on Tuesday for allegedly shooting Steven Andrus, 22, of Opelousas, on May 21, 2019.
Investigators determined that an alleged dispute may have occurred between Andrus and Payne on the morning of the shooting. The shooting happened on Philips Street near the Andrus' home.
A second degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
