An Opelousas man has been arrested following his appearance on St. Landry Crime Stoppers page last week.

On July 8, 2019, detectives responded to the 900 block of Government Road in Opelousas for a burglary of a vehicle. A witness observed an unknown person riding a bicycle leaving from the victim's driveway and took a photo of him. That suspect had stolen a gun from the vehicle.

On July 16, crime stoppers posted the photo of the man who was identified in less than 13 minutes as 19-year-old Davonte Chane Edwards of Opelousas.

Detectives using the information provided by the tip made contact Edwards at his home and he was taken into custody for questioning. After questioning, Edwards was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and booked for Simple Burglary and Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

His bond is set at $7,500.
