OPELOUSAS — The man accused of fatally stabbing his mother in St. Landry Parish has been indicted by a grand jury.
28-year-old Cody James Arceneaux of Opelousas was arrested in April in connection with the death of his mother Vickie Granger.
The incident occurred on April 9, 2019, at a home on Ranch Road.
Arceneaux was indicted Thursday on a second-degree murder charge.
During the investigation, deputies say they found Arceneaux holding his hands in a bloody towel. He allegedly told deputies that his mother had attempted to stab him and he then stabbed her.
According to the sheriff's office, Arceneaux told deputies that he and his mother had been arguing before the fatal stabbing.
