A funeral home in Opelousas fed first responders on Friday.

The drive through feeding saw 500 first responders in St. Landry Parish. The Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home located on Union Street provided the meals for free as a thank you to those who put themselves in harms way to keep the public safe.

The gesture was in honor of other first responders who died and worked tirelessly to aid those in need 19 years ago on September 11, 2001.

I can definitely remember where I was when it happened, its ingrained in my memory and every year I never forget, I hope that as Americans we don't forget what was sacrificed that day." said funeral home manager Ray Dupre

They fed workers until food ran out.
