One family in Opelousas is giving back to first repsonders in the community.
Pat Mason-Guillory and her family made treats for local parish first responders and medical staff. They received help from a local ice cream supplier.
"Anything that you can do, my philosophy is just do it," said Mason-Guillory. "When you do it, you do it from your heart and with love and everything falls in place."
Mason-Guillory set up the drive-thru for front-line workers at her home in Opelousas. Those workers could come by or send over a representative to pick up the ice cream and a little something extra for the road.
She hopes to serve all who provide critical service in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic including workers with Opelousas City Marshal, Opelousas Fire Department, Opelousas General Health System: Main & South Campus, Opelousas Police Dept., Med Express Ambulance Service, St. Landry EMS and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.
Pick-up began at 12:45 pm
