Opelousas closes city buildings to public, remains open amid COVID-19 concerns

City remains open to business transactions

The City of Opelousas announced Monday, March 16 that all city buildings will be immediately closed due to COVID-19.

Mayor Julius Alsandor says that the city will remain open for business transactions.

Those transactions can be made through drive-thru window, online services, over-the-phone payments and the city drop box.

Citizens are reminded that no cash will be accepted via the drop box.

Mayor Alsandor says that all other information pertaining to the City of Opelousas will be forthcoming.
