An investigation into the receipt of narcotics through the mail has led to the arrest of an Opelousas man.
Officers say that 31-year-old Kevin Reco Tyler Jr. was arrested Tuesday, September 17 after he was targeted in the investigation.
Tyler was allegedly caught receiving a package by U.S. Mail containing a controlled dangerous substance. Police say the substance is commonly used to spray onto various forms of paper and is then smoked.
According to the department, mail narcotic trafficking is constantly monitored by postal inspectors and the Office of Homeland Security.
Tyler was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on a charge of Possession with Intent to distribute schedule I narcotics.
