Melville police are investigating a shooting that left one man in critical condition.

According to Chief Anthony Moreau, the shooting happened at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Street (4th Street) and Dodge Street Tuesday evening.

Moreau says the shooting was part of an ongoing dispute between the suspect and the victim.

The victim was shot in the leg and air lifted to a Lafayette hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's office is assisting in the investigation.

No arrest have been made at this time but Moreaux says that police do have a person of interest.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 948-8477.
