Opelousas General Health System celebrated the birth of the first Leap Year baby, Eden Grace Marie Lyons.
Eden was born at 5:40 a.m. on February 29. She was delivered by Dr. Damian Badeaux and weighed 9 lbs 7 oz.
Her pediatrician is Dr. Mia Ben. She is the third child to Kristen and Kasey Lyons of Branch, joining big brothers Benjamin and Nathaniel. her parents say they plan to celebrate her birthdays on February 28.
Nurses Morgan Soileau and Kennedy Morvant presented the family with a gift basket from OGHS's Maternal Child Unit, and Dr. Ben presented them with a stuffed Leap Year frog.
