A local foundation held a benefit Saturday for an elderly Washington woman who needs help getting back on her feet.
Organizers of The Maestro Foundation say 92-year-old Gustina Drawsand is one of the oldest members of the community. Members of the foundation are accepting monetary donations and other items and will give all donations to Drawsand.
Attendees gathered at the Washington Recreation Center this afternoon and offered meals for $8/plate and live entertainment.
Organizers say the benefit is their way of helping out.
"Putting a smile on someone's face and doing it for the right reason, that's confirmation for me," said CEO of the Maestro Foundation Vernon Wiggins. "It feels real good that I'm helping somebody."
