State Police have released more information on Friday's fatal crash in St. Landry Parish that claimed the life of a Eunice motorcyclist.
Troopers say that 75-year-old Melvin Granger of Eunice died following the two-vehicle crash on US Hwy 190 near LA Hwy 367 in St Landry Parish.
According to State Police, an initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Granger was riding his trike motorcycle eastbound on US 190. At the same time, a driver operating a Ford Escort approached a stop sign and stopped in the northbound lane of LA 367.
Troopers say Granger exited the roadway onto the shoulder and impacted the stopped Ford. He was ejected from his motorcycle.
Granger received critical injuries from the crash and succumbed to his injuries several day later at a local hospital.
UPDATE: Motorcyclist injured Friday has died
State Police say that Granger was wearing a DOT approved safety helmet at the time of the crash. The other driver was uninjured.
Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
