St. Landry Sheriff's deputies have arrested a Morrow man in connection with the January slaying of a Palmetto resident.
Derrick Deion Tanner, 41 was booked with second-degree murder.
He's accused in connection with the January slaying of Ray Rideau Jr., 27, of Palmetto. Deputies were called to Rideau's home on January 19 by relatives who said he had left for a hunting trip, but hadn't returned as expected and wasn't responding to calls.
Rideau's body was found dead near Carmons Road, in a wooded area, deputies say. They found evidence and received witness information that pointed to Tanner.
On Tuesday, Tanner turned himself in to the Sheriff's Office, accompanied by his attorney. The case is still ongoing and the motive and additional details are not being released at this time.
