The annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial has been canceled.
"It is with heartfelt regrets that St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial Committee will not host a public Memorial Day Ceremony in honor of our “Fallen” who gave the ultimate sacrifice. This decision is primary due to the global COVID-19 Pandemic and the continued “stay-at-home” when possible from our State, Parish and City Officials," release from the committee states.
"We are asking all businesses, organizations, churches and individuals to display the American Flag in honor and Support of, not just for Memorial Day, but to remember our Fallen and their families’ every day. “We Must Never Forget” We are also asking for prayers for our Military and Country."
The ceremony had been planned for Memorial Day, which is Monday, said Pat Mason-Guillory, Project Director
