Detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating a fatal stabbing.
On January 5, 2020, detectives were dispatched to a local hospital in reference to a man being stabbed in the chest, according to Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux, spokesperson for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office. The man was later identified as Eric Darnell Celestine.
Police say he was involved in a disturbance with his wife, Renada Celestine, when she stabbed him once on his upper right chest.
Eric was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Renada was questioned relative to the incident and released pending the location of additional witnesses, stated Thibodeaux.
Investigation into the incident is still on-going.
