An endowed scholarship approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors on Friday will honor the legacy of a former LSUE employee.

The Clifton “Slim” Gallow Family Endowed Scholarship is aimed at helping LSU Eunice minority students from the St. Landry or St. Martin Parish area majoring in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with plans to transfer to a four-year institution or Allied Health track.

LSUE says that the endowment was made possible thanks to the family of Mr. Gallow.

LSUE will apply to the Louisiana Board of Regents for two-year workforce development matching funds.

“We could not be more honored that Mr. Gallow’s family wanted to make sure his legacy stays at LSUE,” LSU Eunice Chancellor Dr. Nancee Sorenson said. “From all accounts Mr. Gallow wanted to help anyone and everyone at LSUE, and he will continue to do so with this endowed scholarship.”

Mr. Gallow was an employee at LSU Eunice for 25 years. He died in 2015 at the age of 82
