Vice President Mike Pence is sending his condolences to the widow of an Acadiana pastor.
The Rev. Harry Richard died last month after serving the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church for many years. His church was one of those destroyed by an arsonist last year.
During this morning's service at the church, Richard's widow was surprised with a letter from Pence. The Vice President met Richard last year when he visited all three churches not long after the fires.
"I feel very happy that they were concerned about me because there were moments that I felt like I was just all alone, but through the help of God, I'm pulling through," said Evelyn Richard.
A letter from U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins also was delivered to Mrs. Richard today.
