The Town of Leonville has issued a boil water order for some residents on Thursday, September 26.

Officials say that a contractor installing a fence caused a 3" break in a water main.

As a result of the break, the water supply system has experienced problems and that the water produced is of a questionable quality.

Areas included in the boil advisory are:

  • BETWEEN THE ADDRESSES OF 1557 AND 2531 LITTLE TECHE ROAD

The boil advisory is issued effective immediately. Water system customers in the affected area are advised to boil their water for a full minute before consuming.

The advisory will remain in effect until rescinded by the Town officials.

Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

The Town of Leonville Water System will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from our water supply system have shown our water to be safe.
