Thursday, Home Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas traveled around providing grants to local non-profits.

FHLB Dallas presented a check to The Refinery Mission in Opelousas, one of the first stops on its campaign. Officials awarded the mission a grant for $6,000.

The Refinery Mission in Opelousas provides help to homeless men transitioning out of incarceration.

"Its very important for us to receive donations in new capacities because we are growing and we help more men in need cause there is a huge need out there and so the more funds that we can offer the more that we can offer for services for housing and food and transportation and work readiness to get these men back into society again," said Michelle Bergeron, Development Director for The Refinery Mission.

Also on Thursday, Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas presented checks to Step Up Acadiana's offices in Lafayette and another to A New Vision Leadership Foundation. The final check was presented in St. Martinville at St. Theresa Center for the Works of Mercy.

More check presentations will continue Friday.

FHLB Dallas regularly gives grants to nonprofits dedicated to changing communities throughout its regional territory (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Arkansans).
