OPELOUSAS, La. - Grolee Elementary in Opelousas celebrated Black History Month on Wednesday.
The students played a major role in the production.
The school's principal hopes students understand the challenges previous generations went through that give today's kids different opportunities.
"Today, I hope that the students really get an understanding of what our ancestors had to endure for a lot of the opportunities they are presented with today. This is a valuable life lesson and hopefully it will motivate them to do what they're expected to do," said Brandon Singleton, principal of Grolee Elementary.
