GRAND COTEAU, La. — The Town of Grand Coteau is under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice.

The town says that the advisory is due to a main water line break. Water will be tuned off on Wednesday February 24, 2021 from 8:00 am until possibly 12:00 noon for repairs. The shut off may take longer, they say.

Residents may have low water pressure or none at times during the day and evening. Town officials say that the Utilities Department is working on keeping running water working throughout Tuesday before the shut off.

Tuesday morning, Grand Coteau Elementary announced that students would be learning virtually on Tuesday due to a loss of water at the school. Read more here.

The St. Landry Parish School Board also announced Tuesday that Grand Coteau Elementary School and Grand Coteau Head Start will be closed for in-person learning and teachers will provide virtual instruction tomorrow on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The school board asks that parents make every effort to have their child log on through Google Classroom at 8 a.m.
