Southwest Louisiana Primary Health Care Center of Opelousas and Winn Community Health Center of Winnfield will receive $1.8 million in federal grants to aid in providing better access to healthcare in their communities, Congressman Ralph Abraham, M.D., R-Alto announced on Monday.
Winn Community Health Center of Winnfield will receive $1,042,115 and Southwest Louisiana Primary Health Care Center of Opelousas will receive $802,647. These grants are administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
"Community health centers provide greater access to healthcare in rural areas where it may otherwise be scarce or unavailable," Abraham said. "As a physician, I'm glad to see federal dollars being put to work where they will have the greatest impact on the lives of Louisianans, such as in the 5th District."
