ST. LANDRY PARISH — People in St. Landry Parish are looking to keep the Halloween spirit alive with spirits of their own.
Starting on Saturday, October 17th, at 6 p.m. the St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery is hosting a cemetery tour where people will get a chance to hear from spirits who are coming back to life to share their stories about how they helped shape the city of Opelousas.
Yvonne Normand, an organizer for the event says that people always learn a thing or two about the events that took place long ago in their community.
"They didn't know these people and the events that took place to shape our community. And they are so enlightened, and they are glad they came because it gave a different spin. It wasn't just reading a book. You actually see it brought to life right in front of you."
The tours run through Sunday, with a schedule as follows:
Saturday: 6 p.m. 6:30 p.m. 7 p.m. 7:30 p.m. & 8 p.m.
Sunday: 2 p.m. & 3 p.m.
Tickets are $10. All proceeds go towards historical graves that no longer have a family to care for them.
