Arrest made in stolen ATV investigation

St. Landry Parish detectives have made an additional arrest in an ongoing investigation into the theft of several ATVs in the parish.

During the investigation, detectives were able to identify key individuals involved, some having previous arrests. Detectives began speaking with individuals in an attempt to identify the location of the ATVs; investigators were led to a residents on Hwy 103 in St. Landry Parish.

Detectives and narcotics investigators began surveillance on the residence and gathered enough information to obtain a search warrant for the suspect, identified as Jason C. Leger of Washington. Leger was known by law enforcement to carry a firearm, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Detectives, along with the St. Landry Parish SWAT team and narcotics investigators, executed the search warrant and found Leger in the residence with a firearm.

During a search of the home, detectives recovered a stolen utility trailer valued at $1,500 and two stolen Honda four-wheelers valued at a total of $5,000. Louisiana State Police assisted in identifying the ATVs.

Sheriff Guidroz added, "We credit the success of this search warrant to the cooperation of the community with our deputies, team efforts displayed by all divisions within the St. Landry Parish Department, and outside agencies."

Leger was arrested and is facing three counts of possession of stolen things. His bond has been set at $4,500.
