One person has been arrested in connection with a December 1 shooting on Planters Street in Opelousas that left a person injured.
Opelousas Police say that Sam James, II was arrested for that shooting which occurred on December 1, 2019 in the 700 block of Planters Street. One person was shot in the left thigh in that incident but the injury was not life-threatening.
On Wednesday, December 11, police say they spotted James in the area of the shooting allegedly carrying a firearm. He was arrested and while being interviewed and transported to the parish jail, allegedly attempted to escape from custody.
OPD says that after a brief search occurred but he was quickly located and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.
Police currently searching for three other suspects - one black male, a white female and a black female - who fled the scene on foot.
