ST LANDRY PARISH — An Opelousas man has been arrested in connection with a burglary and theft of nine firearms from a home near Washington last month.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office says that on August 31, 2020, St. Landry Parish Deputies responded to a residential burglary in the Washington area.

Deputies say they learned that the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Ashton Devillier, made entry into the home and removed 9 firearms, 1 paintball gun, and a variety of ammunition all totaling to around $5,589 in value.

During the investigation Detectives made contact with Devillier and conducted an interview. In the interview, Devillier allegedly confessed to the residential burglary along with a second residential burglary occurring in the Opelousas area. The sheriff's office also say he provided the location of the missing items which were recovered by Detectives and returned to the victim.

Devillier was booked with Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Simple Burglary. Bond was set at $17,500.
