Accidental shooting leaves Leonville man dead

LEONVILLE, La. - Police are investigating an accidental shooting that left a Leonville man dead.

Keivon Bernard, 26, was playing with a pistol when the gun went off, according to Joseph Noel, Chief of Leonville Police Department.

Police were called to the home located on Hwy. 347 Wednesday at 8:11 pm. Once on the scene, they found Bernard inside the home with a gunshot wound to the head.

The chief said Bernard's girlfriend and four children were in the home at the time of the shooting.

Evidence was collected and will be sent to a crime lab, however, the shooting is believed to be accidental, stated Chief Noel.
