A bike auction will be held on Saturday, July 18, at the Cajun Flea Market in Eunice.
Police Chief Randy Fontenot says the nearly 60 bikes have been found over the past six months and have not been claimed.
With the Saturday auction, the chief is also hoping to raise awareness about the city's bicycle registration program.
Fontenot believes the sale is the best solution for unclaimed property.
"[We] gather these bikes and when we get to a certain point, we auction them off," Fontenot explained. "There's a state law that mandates how we need to get rid of unclaimed property. And one of the options is to auction it off, and that's probably the easiest for us to do."
