Bikes abandoned in the City of Eunice over the past several months have all been auctioned off.
A bike auction was held on Saturday at the Cajun Flea Market, and nearly 60 bikes were purchased.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot tells KATC that his department found the bikes over the past six months and none had been claimed.
The auction was also a chance for the community to learn about the city's bicycle registration program.
"[We] gather these bikes and when we get to a certain point, we auction them off," Fontenot explained. "There's a state law that mandates how we need to get rid of unclaimed property. And one of the options is to auction it off, and that's probably the easiest for us to do."
