A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the northern parishes of Acadiana, this will include St. Landry, Evangeline, Avoyelles, and Allen until noon Wednesday.

It'll be a weather aware type day Wednesday with some of the ingredients needed for severe weather in place across Acadiana.

A stationary front has been sitting with us for the next few days and Wednesday afternoon a surface low is going to move through the area, which could be the spark needed to get a few storms churning.

The worst of the weather will arrive during the late morning and early afternoon and should start to wind down by the late evening and overnight.

Main threats with any of the storms that develop Wednesday will be damaging wind and medium to large hail, while those will be the biggest issues an isolated tornado or two can't be ruled out.

While a few storms will certainly have the potential to become rather intense this isn't looking like it will be a major widespread severe weather event.

Still though it will be worth watching the weather on Wednesday to make sure you stay on top of the weather forecast, especially as storms start to pop up.
