The remnants of Imelda, mercifully, have drifted north moving the rain from southeast Texas to the Texarkana region.

Unfortunately it didn't lift out in time to prevent close to 40" of rain in parts of Texas this week, and will still be pulling moisture through Acadiana.

As Imelda lifts north it will drag moisture and showers across the region which will keep the occasional heavy downpours in the forecast for another day.

The weekend is looking a little better with drier air slowly filtering in, meaning more sunshine and slightly warmer afternoons.

Temperatures will be back around 90 on Sunday with a heat index running warmer than that as summer hangs on in south Louisiana.

A sneak peak into next week provides another hot week with cooler temperatures remaining well out of the forecast.
