The jury heard opening statements, as well as testimony from nine witnesses today.
It was the first day of trial for Kevin Daigle, who is accused of first-degree murder in the slaying of a State Trooper.
The jury and alternates were seated last week. Daigle was granted a change of venue, which means his jury was selected here in Lafayette.
Opening statements began Sunday, July 7, at 9:00 a.m.
Daigle is accused of killing Trooper Steven Vincent in 2015. The slaying happened in Calcasieu Parish.
The state is seeking the death penalty.
