An Opelousas man has died after hitting a tree that fell across the roadway.
Troopers say Matthew Washington, 67 was driving on LA 749 on October 9, near Hanger when his vehicle ran into a tree that had fallen across the roadway.
Washington who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash was taken to the hospital by private means with moderate injuries.
Washington later died on October 15 from the injuries he received from the crash.
This crash remains under investigation.
