One dead, two injured in early morning shooting

BREAUX BRIDGE, LA — Breaux Bridge Police are investigating a shooting where three people were shot leaving one dead.

The shooting happened around 3:30 am in the 600 block of Velma Circle.

Upon arrival, Police say they found that three people who live inside the residence had been shot. One victim identified as 53-year-old Roxanne Hawthorne died at the scene. The other two victims a man and a woman were transported to a local hospital listed in critical/stable condition.

According to police, the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Nathan Simon, knew all three victims.

Simon and the victims had a verbal altercation before the shooting but police say it is still unclear if the altercation happened before the suspect arrived at the location or after he arrived at the location.

Simon turned himself in to local authorities where he was arrested on several outstanding warrants, pending further charges for the shooting investigation.
