SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - Police say a South Carolina woman was found dead in her apartment and her 5-year-old daughter is missing.
Nevada Lashy Adams has been missing since Monday evening after a relative discovered her mother's body, said Sumter Police spokeswoman Tonyia McGirt. Nevada is 4 feet (1 meter), 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) tall, weighs 50 pounds (23 kilograms) and has braided black hair with colored beads.
McGirt says police haven't determined how 29-year-old Sharee Bradley died. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
McGirt says 28-year-old Daunte Maurice Johnson was arrested after he was seen running away from Bradley's home.
Jail records show Johnson has been charged with murder. Police say they aren't certain if Johnson played any role in Nevada's disappearance.
Jail records don't indicate if Johnson has an attorney.
