The International Union for the Conservation of Nature has included the migratory Monarch Butterfly on its list of endangered species.
The organization recognizes the butterflies population has decreased by 99.9% between the 1980s and 20-21'.
Experts say their biggest threats are habitat destruction and climate change.
These threats lead to increased temperatures causing earlier migrations and droughts limiting the growth of milkweed.
