LAFAYETTE, La. — Broadmoor Elementary brought in the Mardi Gras spirit today with their very own parade, and it was super cute!
Students lined the halls this afternoon to watch as classes paraded through wearing handmade costumes and throwing candy. Catherine Hartweck, a kindergarten teacher at Broadmoor, says this is a special day for everyone.
"I love seeing my past students in the hallway, as a kindergarten teacher. I get to see them all growing up, and then, also, just to see the kids get so excited," she said. "We go down the hall with music. They're throwing candy. It's just really exciting to get to go into Mardi Gras break doing this."
That excitement is being felt at several other schools across Lafayette Parish. Friday, students are getting their own fun send-off into Mardi Gras break with celebrations, parades courirs and more.
