The Kaplan City Court Courthouse and Clerk's Office are reopening to the public during regular business hours under phase one guidelines.
Business hours from Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The following guidelines must be adhered to at the courthouse and clerk's office as part of the first phase of Louisiana's reopening:
- Only defendants, witnesses, attorneys, and interpreters shall be allowed into the courthouse IF AND ONLY IF they pass the Marshal's temperature scan and are wearing a face mask. Face masks will be provided free of charge to those who do not own one. No other individuals will be allowed inside the courthouse.
- Spacing of 6 feet between persons shall be enforced, limiting the number of people inside.
- All individuals who had court dates in March, April, or May of 2020 must report to the courthouse between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 pm. Thursday, May 21, or Friday, May 22, to be served a new court date.
- All individuals doing community service must report to the courthouse every Friday at 8:30 a.m. with their service sheet, a face mask, dressed with rubber boots (if you own them), a sun hat, and warm weather clothing. Face masks will be provided for those that do not own one.
- Civil evictions cannot be filed until June 5, 2020.
