The Kaplan City Court Courthouse and the Clerk of Court's office will remain closed until May 18, in accordance with a new order signed by the city clerk.
The order is effective immediately, and will expire at 8:30 a.m. on the 18th. While the buildings will remain physically closed, the offices will still be accessible by phone at 337-643-6611 or email at kaplancitycourt@kaplantel.net from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to continue essential duties.
According to an order by Judge Stanton Hardee, all defendants with court dates between April 1, 2020, and May 22, 2020, shall appear at the courthouse during regular business hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. During the week of May 18, 2020, and May 22, 2020, to be served with a new court date.
72-hour hearings and any other critical essential hearing of incarcerated individuals will continue to be by audio on Mondays and Thursdays.
