St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Deputies were led on a high speed chase Saturday afternoon through two parishes, resulting in one arrest and three persons still at large.

At 4:15 p.m., a St. Mary Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 90 West in the Centerville area. The car pulled over initially, but the driver pulled back onto the highway as the deputy approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver.

The vehicle accelerated to speeds of 100 mph in order to evade deputies, according to a spokesman with the sheriff's office. The vehicle was occupied by four subjects, and the driver continued traveling on Highway 90 West from St. Mary Parish into Iberia Parish.

Louisiana State Police used spike strips to bring the vehicle to a stop near Highway 90 West, Exit 126.

One passenger, identified as Briani Doucet, was apprehended and arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. The other three occupants of the vehicle fled on foot and are still at large as of Saturday night.

State Troopers, along with Iberia Parish Sheriff's Deputies and Iberia Police Officers assisted with the search.
