The band director at H.L. Bourgeois High School has been arrested, accused of having a sexual relationship with a teen girl.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said his deputies have arrested Micheal Roy Aucoin, 28, and booked him with Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile.
Aucoin, a Morgan City native, was arrested after detectives were contacted by the parents of a girl. The parents suspected she was having a sexual relationship with Aucoin. Detectives found inappropriate conversations between them on the girl's cell phone, and also uncovered evidence that they allegedly had sex at Aucoin's home in Gray. Aucoin allegedly told the girl not to tell anyone, not even her closest friends, about their relationship.
Detectives arrested Aucoin at his home, the sheriff said.
Aucoin was named Teacher of the Year at HL Bourgeois in 2017.
