Two St. Martinville Police Department employees are on paid administrative leave pending a criminal investigation.
Chief Ricky Martin tells KATC several hundred dollars went missing from the department's processing room. The chief stressed the money is not classified as evidence. The money was part of a joint investigation between the St. Martinville Police Department and the New Iberia Police Department.
An internal investigation into the missing money started three weeks ago. When the St. Martinville Police Department didn't find the money, they called in the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office to investigate.
The pair was placed on administrative leave on Monday.
